It’s funny how people could change into
someone they are not used to be. One thing for sure, there is always a battle
between two sides, either they become someone who’s adopting something good or
they become someone who leave the kindness in them and prefer to go rogue. In
my opinion, the perfect definition of each party is still cluttered and it depends on the point of view of every human being.
A close friend of mine once told me that
his colleagues were starting to question him how he could be promoted fast.
Everyone at his office know that he could get close easily with bosses. Don’t
blame him for having a loveable and daring yet opportunist personality. He’s
simply opening the right door at the right time. That’s all.
What bugged me the most is that his
colleagues which were once my co-workers as well, changed. They’re starting to
distrust each other, thinking maybe dirty things involved in the process of
their teammate’s promotion, they’re working for something they think better
than their idealism, they’re working for money.
The people we knew for so long, whom we
went through everything together are gradually leaving us because apparently we
don’t have the same vision and mission anymore. We prefer to do things in our
own way. But why should money take part in our life?. Why people
think money is important?. I’m very aware that money can buy you things, but
does money mean everything?. Will you change your idealism for money?, will
you die for money, will you kill someone for money?, will having much money makes you happy?.
I’m probably naive or just stupid but i
believe there’s still some dignity in humanity. This is why i dare to say that
money is important, but it shouldn’t be the goal of our life. Human is a
material being, therefore as long as we live, we will always have the needs to
fulfill physical matters. Fortune, love, acknowledgement, appreciation, lust,
envy, greed, achievement, existence, yadda yadda yadda. I wonder if it is possible
for human to be completely detached from material things then
find peace and contentment. You finally said enough to yourself and decide to
not feeding on those things.
Because feeling better in your own skin
is always comforting. Don’t waste you time contemplating on how walking in
other people’s shoes. The what if scenarios are tiring and finally will eat you
up. After all, there’s always somebody out there who's better, richer, smarter, more good looking,
more talented or whatsoever than us. It's like a maze which has no ends. The question is are you stupid enough to go into the maze and get lost or you decide to draw your own path.
Just define who you are, what do you
really want to do in your life, plot plans and go without giving a damn care
about what people think of you.
